Extra RSD 181 Million for Schools Renovation
Contracts worth RSD 181 million were given to the representatives of educational institutions in the AP Vojvodina Assembly today. The funds are intended for reconstruction, adaptation, rehabilitation, investment and regular maintenance of the provincial school facilities.
"On 12 July, we launched the investment call for proposals in the field of education, the total value of which was four hundred million dinars, and it was open until 11 August 2023. However, on 25 July, we made a decision to expand the call for proposals in order to urgently restore school buildings that had suffered damage due to the recent weather disasters. On the occasion, we gave contracts worth RSD 219 million, last week.” - The Vice-President of the Provincial Government, Provincial Secretary Zsolt Szakállas, stated.
When applying for the funds, the institutions emphasized the great necessity for the roof reconstruction, renovation and thermal insulation of the facades, windows and facade joinery replacement, as well as the need for reconstruction of the heating system, renovation of sanitary blocks, regular maintenance of walls and ceilings, and painting works, kitchen reconstruction, floor replacement and similar repairs.
"It is very important to provide appropriate infrastructure according to European standards, which meets the needs of new technological development, and in addition - to continuously finance facilities used by educational institutions. In 2023 alone, the Provincial Government invested about RSD 1.7 billion in school buildings." - Mr Szakállas concluded.
The Contracts were given to representatives of fifteen educational institutions, namely to fourteen primary schools and one secondary school in the territory of AP Vojvodina.
