The Protocol on Cooperation for Implementing Programme “For Greener and Cleaner Schools in AP Vojvodina” has been signed today at the AP Vojvodina Assembly. The greening project has been implemented for the thirteen consecutive years, with the aim of raising awareness and fostering personal responsibility of every individual about the environment, and fostering a cleaner and greener environment in educational institutions and local communities in the AP Vojvodina.

“Environmental protection is a topic of global importance, interest and scope and we in Vojvodina do not lag behind the planetary activism in this area. We consistently pay our attention to students who - thanks to this programme - can see themselves as key actors of change in the area of environmental protection. In other words, children participating in this programme discover a strong creative potential within themselves as well as the ability to do substantial things so that we all can protect our environment.” - said the Vice-President of the Provincial Government and the Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities, Mr. Szakállas Zsolt, while signing the protocol.

The Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism joined the environmental protection programme last year, thus the Provincial Secretary Nenad Ivanišević also signed the said protocol. Ivanišević said that the environmental protection, as well as raising awareness on the importance of it among adults and children, starting with educational institutions, is a significant systematic solution and that we also owe it to our descendants and next generations - to preserve what we inherited and pass it on to new generations.

“We did not inherit this planet in order to destroy it, but to pass it on in a better condition to the upcoming generations. This project has had the same aim for thirteen years - to improve and preserve the environment. The Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism supports this programme in 2022 without any reservations. We will endeavour to revive the connection with tourism, because there is no tourism without nature and we have been witnessing the tendency of tourists returning to nature, more and more every year.” - said Ivanišević.

Within the programme “For Greener and Cleaner Schools in Vojvodina”, during 2021/2022 school year, 1.130 children from 49 educational institutions were awarded. Thanks to the PC “Vojvodinašume”, twelve schools had the opportunity to visit the protected area in Vojvodina, while the remaining students from 37 schools went on a trip to Sremski Karlovci. President of Vojvodina Environmental Movement Aleksa Jevtić thanked the volunteers and educational workers who worked directly with children and thus contributed to the fact that many trips were organised in spite of numerous challenges.

“This programme has been implemented continually despite the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Partner cooperation helped develop this programme and make it last for the last thirteen years. Today’s signing of the protocol obliges all partners to be proactive with the aim of visiting as many schools as possible and thus giving the programme even more importance.” - concluded the coordinator of the programme “For Greener and Cleaner Schools in Vojvodina” and the Under Secretary in the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection Brankica Tabak.

The Protocol on Cooperation was signed by the representatives of six provincial secretariats (Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities; Provincial Secretariat for Energy, Construction and Transport, Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism and Provincial Secretariat for for Sports and Youth), the City of Novi Sad - City Administration for Environmental Protection, PC ”Vojvodinašume” and Vojvodina Environmental Movement.
